Immersive Bauhaus installation

Part of Systems of Representation course our class collaborated with Finnish Design Museum to build group project for Modern[ism] exhibition. Our group decided to concentrate on Bauhaus movement and do two sided projection installation on a fragmented canvas, which was made out of flat tiles placed three-dimensionally in the air and search for a visual balance on Bauhaus ideals. The installation interacted with the environment and gave a deep but overall view of Bauhaus. Sequences of narratives e.g. colour, architecture, typography, material & performance were fragmented on tiles using sound and image.

Installation consisted of two projectors on each side and three computers that were discussing with OSC protocol over WIFI. Four sound shover speakers were distributed over installation area and one webcam to detect visitor amount & movement. Openframeworks was used to handle video & picture content for tiles, while Processing was used for computer vision & Puredata for sounds.

Most of the group members participated also to the creation of visual content and some Bauhaus archive content was used as well. My contribution consisted of dynamic Quartz composer patches, which were all highly influenced by Joseph Alber's work, colour theory & visual illusions.
